MLB All-Star Voting Dates

  • Phase 1: from 5th to 27th June
  • Phase 2: from June 30th to July 3rd

How does voting work?

Phase 1

Phase 1 of the voting includes fan voting for players they want to see play in the All-Star Game, which begins and runs through Thursday, June 27 at noon. In Phase 1, fans can vote on which players they would like to see start at each position (except outfield, where fans can choose three players) in the American and National Leagues. They can do so up to five times every 24 hours.

Pitchers are excluded from the fan vote. Player votes and the commissioner’s office will determine the pitchers and bench players selected for the All-Star Game.

Shortly after Phase 1 ends on June 27, the top two players with the most votes at each position (plus six outside players) will be revealed. The overall vote winner in each league will be named the starter for this year’s All-Star Game, with the remainder of the starting spots determined during Phase 2.

Phase 2

Phase 2 begins at noon on Sunday, June 30. In Phase 2, fans will be able to cast their ballots among the top two (or six, in the case of outfielders) to choose the starting player at each position in both leagues. Phase 2 will end on Wednesday, July 3 at 12:00 p.m. ET, with the winners revealed later that day. Fans can cast their votes on MLB.com (up to four times per day), the MLB mobile app, or at any of MLB’s 30 stadiums.

How many players are on the All-Star teams?

There will be 32 players on each MLB All-Star team. This includes 20 position players and 12 pitchers. Here is the roster breakdown:

  • Fans’ vote: 8 players
  • Player Rating: 16 players (AL) or 17 players (NL)
  • Commissioner’s Office – 6 players (AL) or 8 players (NL)

MLB All-Star Game 2024

Following tradition, Texas Rangers manager Bruce Bochy will lead the American League team after winning the AL championship last season (and the World Series), while Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo will lead the National League team after winning the NL championship last year.

The 2024 MLB All-Star Game will be held on Tuesday, July 16 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, home of the Texas Rangers. The game will be broadcast live on FOX for the 25th time.
